If you are switching from your E65 to a newer Nokia phone, there is a chance that the message icon will be flashing when you turn on your new phone with your old SIM card in it.

How to STOP the Message Icon Flashing
So how do you stop it flashing?
In some new Nokia phones, you will discover some long lost SMS messages that were stored in your SIM card many eons ago. Go to your Messages, then Options, then SIM Messages. Open that up and you can copy the messages to My Folder or your inbox. Once you have done this, select MARK ALL and then press c or delete. This will stop the message icon flashing.
Then you can go to your Inbox or whatever folder you saved the SIM messages in and get your nostalgic fix looking at messages received a long time ago.

Nice work, I upgraded to a new Nokia 6730 and had a persistently flashing message light that was driving me bonkers. I would never have known about the SIM messages without this post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine has a Nokia E65 and would like to know if it's possible to ensure that messages from a particular sender are never lost. My understanding is that if a message is saved to the SIM card rather than the phone then if the phone is lost, the messages will show up on the new SIM card when it is issued from Vodafone.
Is this correct? And if so, how do you actually move a message from the phone memory to the SIM card memory to ensure these messages are never lost even if the phone is lost?
Many Thanks.
I have the E65, love it, but how can I be notified when a voice message is received? It only lets me know I missed a call, and not let me know there is a message or 5 messages.

ReplyDeleteI have a Nokia E72 and I have tried what you said but still the wretched thing flashes at me :-( I went in and selected 'mark all' then selected delete but it still flashes. Does anyone know if there is something else that can be done on the E72?
ReplyDeleteAny help would stop me going insane :-) Many thanks
Re the Nokia E72. I have been in touch with Nokia and I think anyone who has followed the advice above but still has a flashing Opti Navi key should know the following: The E72 has what they call a 'breathe' function. Basically when the key pad is locked, but the phone is switched on, the opti navi key is set to flash so that you know the phone is still on when it looks like it is switched off. This is what was driving me crazy!
ReplyDeleteTo turn off the breathe flashing light follow the following sequence:
menu, control panel, settings, general, personalisation, notification lights, standby br.light, select off.
Hey presto, no more flashing light! Hope that helps someone out there.
thanks alot!
